Senior Product Marketing Manager (B2B, remote)

Remote (United States)

If you're an early Product Marketing leader where the following sounds attractive, this could be an incredible fit:

  • Build and grow a Product Marketing team of your own in a SaaS environment where there are existing content specialists ready to partner with you
  • Bring value to an underserved SMB sub-market (franchisees) who need technology options for recruiting and retaining teams/employees (contributing $477B to the US GDP)
  • Participate in our evolution toward Product-led growth philosophies and practices
  • Safely experiment in a smaller company (still less than 100 employees) where JTBD-style / outcome-based experimentation embraced and valued
  • Help launch our expanded product in 2022, with the potential to grow recurring revenue by 30-50% with existing clients alone

Our Why.

CareerPlug empowers others to reach their potential. We do this, in part, by making it easier for our clients to hire and develop the right people. We want to positively impact the lives of our employees, our small business owner clients and their applicants/teams.

What we do.

We provide innovative recruiting and HR software for over 14,000 clients and solve one of the biggest problems in small business - attracting and retaining the right people. Our applicant tracking and retention platform helps companies make better hires to have the right people in place to build a successful business. Our vision is leading us along an inspiring path to accomplish much more. The next stage of our growth will be powerful and will exponentially propel us toward exciting business, and more importantly, mission milestones.

We are focused on our core client growth segment - SMB, and more specifically, franchisees. In 2021, franchising is projected to open more than 26,000 locations, add nearly 800,000 new jobs, contributing $477B to the US GDP. Industry expansion and economic output should approach pre-pandemic levels by the end of the year, and human capital management has become the #1 need this industry has for technology solutions.

Who we are.

We are a 100% remote, values-based team that believes people are the heart of our business and are committed to building one of the best places to work -- anywhere. To us, that means putting care and purpose into our hiring process (we promise it will be impressive), providing meaningful development and training opportunities for our team members, and living our core values every day.

CareerPlug is proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse team. Our leadership takes responsibility for creating a safe and welcoming environment built on inclusion and respect for all.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced product marketer and a natural leader to take a budding Product Marketing function and really bring it to value. This role will develop and execute a strategy to drive product value awareness and adoption and improve time-to-value for all CareerPlug clients. In addition to our current product offering, we will be expanding our product significantly in the next year. Our product expansion and launch will come with a sizable market repositioning, leaning on the expansion launch to increase our overall client retention.

The Senior Product Marketing Manager will be essential to our future goals, and will report directly to the VP of Product & Engineering. This leader will be our first full-time hire for this function and will help build this team to meet our goals. While many PMM teams traditionally roll up under a standard Marketing function, our GTM is very unique and it won't take long before the way we plan to organize this business function makes perfect sense to you. Our future Product Marketing team will work with the Product organization and existing content creators to shape the value of and launch new releases that influence our existing user-journeys, product adoption and retention of our client-base. Thereafter, the PMM function of the business will expand into Sales enablement.

In this role you will:

  • Help us study. We need you to implement continuous discovery style research powered by qualitative and quantitative analysis (including but not limited to market analysis and competitor research). All in an effort to synthesize this research into digestible info that influences the product strategy.
  • Help us shape. We will rely on your deep understanding of our clients and the job they are hiring us to do for them (the need they want us to help meet). This is in an effort to help craft go-to-market strategies for the solutions we build (including outlines of content) to ensure we are both building and communicating the value proposition.
  • Lead our efforts to launch & learn. Everything involved with pre- and post-launch, including but not limited to product positioning referenced in client & partner-facing team enablement and training, customer testimonials (sourced from an early adopter/beta program), as well as managing the dashboards used to visualize our adoption and hypothesis performance. Regardless of if we exceed or fall short of our adoption goals, you will know why and be working on actionable steps to take adoption even further.
  • Usher in ideals of product-led growth. We are doing things a bit differently, and with your help, product will significantly influence the expansion revenue number.

Other specific responsibilities:

  • Manage in-app product communication
  • Run A/B tests and analyze results to continually improve
  • Work cross-team to coordinate email-based engagement efforts
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of product functionality and new product offerings

Who you are:

A great storyteller. You care deeply about the entire client journey and want to maximize the value that a client experiences along the way. You are proactive, resourceful, efficient, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are hungry to be shoulder to shoulder cross-functionally and continuously launching value (participating in some way in every phase of the product development & launch process).

You are an excellent fit if you take a heavily data-influenced approach to creating in-app content for CareerPlug users on how to use the product, new product features, and best practices. You have a solid foundation of product management principles. You utilize the tools at your disposal to help clients get the most value out of their accounts. The goal is to drive product engagement, improve time-to-value, and ultimately help influence expansion revenue through product-led growth strategies.

Note from the hiring manager:

I'd love to meet you if this opportunity has you intrigued. This is ultimately greenfield territory within our company. We needed this team 1-2 years ago, but had to get through the pandemic and come out strong. Here we are! We have big growth plans ahead. The chance to either repeat what you've successfully done in the past or build a Product Marketing function/team for the first time (based on your having been involved with this in the past) is what this is really about. Our intent is to find that right person who is intensely attracted to the nature of this opportunity and has the drive to build a Product Marketing function that leaves a lasting impact on our growing business and all the lives we impact through our clients/partners.

Benefits:

  • Work from home (we're fully remote)
  • Employer Paid Health Insurance
  • Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Unlimited PTO (with minimums!)
  • Home Office Stipend
  • 401(k) Company Match
  • Donation Matching

Remote: This is a fully remote role with travel included to Austin, TX at least two times per year. Our team is growing as rapidly as our client base and we are always looking for top talent to join our team. Our leadership is dedicated to making CareerPlug one of the best places to work anywhere.

We are moving toward transparent compensation across our company and believe an applicant deserves this information in the apply process: $130,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
