Role: Product Marketing Manager, NGINX Core - Commercial Products

NGINX, now a part of F5, Inc., delivers cloud-native, Kubernetes-friendly open source and enterprise solutions that drive mission-critical apps and APIs with scalability, visibility, security, and governance. The PMM will share go-to-market responsibility for NGINX Open Source (when included in a commercial license), NGINX Connectivity Stack for Kubernetes, NGINX Plus, and NGINXaaS for Azure.  

  

Role Summary:  

Your mission is to build foundational messaging and positioning, develop content to raise awareness with Developer, Platform Ops, Cloud and API architect audiences, and equip sales. Your key partners include product management, engineering, corporate marketing, alliances and community, sales, and technology ecosystem partners. Your day-to-day work includes:  

  

Strategy and Go-To-Market: Acquire market intelligence from data-based evidence, customer meetings, subject-matter experts, and analyst reports. Use this intel to understand customer problems and build messaging and positioning that differentiates NGINX. Work closely with product management to distill key product features and benefits into core messaging. Develop and implement strategic go-to-market plans in coordination with key partners. Launch new products and promote use cases unlocked by product releases.  

  

Positioning, Messaging, and Content Creation: Write customer- and sales-facing collateral, including webpages, blogs, datasheets, email campaigns, case studies, videos, webinars, training sessions, sales conversation guides, pitch decks, FAQs, and competitive battlecards. Subjects range from "product-focused" to “product agnostic” with the goal of increasing awareness and knowledge about NXINX commercial products.  

  

Enablement and Evangelism: Lead engagements with sales, marketing, customers, technology partners, industry press, and trade analysts via webinars, direct meetings, marketing communications, and events. Help craft NGINX strategy and content for key events. Contribute to demand generation efforts by supporting NGINX marketing initiatives.  

  

Teamwork: Regularly collaborate one-on-one and as a group with teammates and key partners. Occasionally be available outside normal working hours for communication (email, instant messaging, or meeting) with colleagues and customers in other geographies.

What you bring to the team:  

You are passionate about technology and human-first storytelling, and you care about doing the right thing for our customers, our communities, and each other. You’re comfortable talking to technical audiences as well as the “layperson” who doesn’t know the difference between an API gateway and an API management strategy.  

  

Required:  


  • Writing and Public Speaking: Able to collect information from multiple sources and synthesize it for different audiences (such as sales, customers, marketing) in a style that is simple and easy to understand. Experience writing content for marketing or educational purposes in formats such as webpages, blogs, datasheets, email campaigns, case studies, videos, and webinars. Comfortable with public speaking and experienced with developing engaging presentations or training sessions.  
  • Interpersonal and Project Management: Strong communicator, collaborator, influencer, and negotiator with the ability to work across teams and organizations in a hybrid and often virtual work environment. A track record of leading and executing projects on time and as a team. Experience working in a global role and understanding marketing differences across different countries/regions.  
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud-native or software technologies and industry practices (such as DevOps and agile). Experience with APIs, API gateways, API security, and/or API management is a plus!  
  • Background: A minimum 5 years of experience in B2B product marketing or product management with experience marketing to IT professionals, Developers and Architects.  
  • Travel: Occasional travel is required for team offsites, trade shows, and conferences.
