Senior Product Marketer

Remote (United States) Boston, MA

👋 Looking for Senior Product Marketer at High Velocity Startup

Hi! We’re OnRamp. We help software companies level up their new customer onboarding experience. We’re looking for a senior product marketer with a wide range of experience and startup mindset - someone who thrives on change, a fast pace, and an evolving solution / company - to join us as our first product hire.

Have you been a top performer at high-growth enterprise software startups developing positioning, narrative, and product differentiation (and then executing those single-handedly)? Are you someone who lives to truly understand the needs of a market and figure out how to solve them? Are you looking to take the next step and help build a company’s marketing function from the ground up?

Yes to all of the above? Let’s talk.

💡 What is OnRamp exactly?

OnRamp is a collaborative onboarding management platform helping B2B SaaS companies provide a world-class onboarding experience to new customers. We have great momentum: a cutting-edge product, enthusiastic customers, and a sizable new round of funding from world-class VCs.

📈 What’s in it for me?

As our first marketing hire, you’ll have a huge amount of autonomy and responsibility determining OnRamp’s strategic positioning. Aside from getting immersed in the world of Customer Success to learn the needs of our market, you’ll have a huge say in figuring out how to address those needs and positioning ourselves as the preferred solution. We’ll ask you to experiment and move quickly and help us determine which investments will have the highest impact.

You’ll also have the chance to determine the story of how our phenomenal product - one that customers have called “game-changing” - fits into our customers’ lives. We’re defining a multi-billion dollar new category where modern tools do not exist currently. You’ll play a huge role in creating the messaging strategy that lets us do so. And then you'll get to lead the charge putting it into practice.

You’ll have a real say in many other parts of the business, including sales, product development, hiring - and more. This is an amazing role for the entrepreneurial-minded marketer who wants to join a category-defining business in its early days and make a huge impact on the trajectory. And as our company grows at warp speed, there will be a ton of opportunities to step up into even greater responsibility; we believe this will be a career-defining opportunity.

Finally, you’ll be working alongside a team of proven startup builders and investors who have been on this journey before with repeated success. We have lots of fun along the way, but know that we’re playing to win here. We think the biggest factor in winning is the quality of our team, and we think the best perk is getting to work with other world-class individuals at the top of their game.

If that’s what you’re looking for too, we want to meet you.

đŸ€ș What traits should I bring?

You are a product marketer with a generalist bent (someone who can do it all!) and a let’s-figure-it-out attitude. You are comfortable working in fast-paced environments wearing many hats and take an iterative approach to everything you do. You know how to get to the heart of market demand + product opportunity; articulate the precise strategy, messaging, and positioning to meet it; and develop the channels to do so. Ideally, you’ve seen growth at a startup before and understand the tensions involved in developing a coherent, vision-led strategy that’s also flexible. You think about process - recognizing that the most impactful way to make your job easier is to build repeatability. Your colleagues speak highly of your work, reflected in your own growth opportunities and track record at previous companies.

đŸ€č And who’s on the team now?

Our co-founders Paul & Ross met as very early employees at VTS (now a billion-dollar proptech company) where Paul led the customer onboarding team and saw this problem first-hand. They then went on to be even earlier employees at Troops and Bombas respectively - both of which are now late-stage, hugely successful startups - and founded OnRamp out of Harvard Business School.

We have five other team members across engineering, product, and sales.

🏃‍ What stage are you at?

We’ve had a robust product in the market since January and removed our “Beta” tag in April. We’ve been focused on finding the right partners and have a solid core of enthusiastic, paying customers. We’re now scaling the team and product with an ambitious roadmap and proven success points with some of the world’s most exciting companies.

💰 Have you raised any money?

We closed a substantial Seed round (our second round of institutional funding) in July 2021 with some of the best enterprise software VCs on the planet (earliest investors in DataDog, Gusto, Vanta, and many more). This gives us a long runway to grow and accelerate the business over the next few years. We were named runner-up at the Harvard Business School New Venture Competition. And we have strong relationships and interest within the VC industry for future financings. 😊

🔹What will we do?

You’ll be responsible for crafting OnRamp’s marketing strategy and executing to bring it to life. More specifically:

Who: You’ll be spending as much time as possible learning from the leaders + individual contributors of Customer Success teams at mid-sized and fast-growing B2B SaaS companies.

What: We’ll ask you to not only determine market needs and how to position ourselves to meet them but also how to best tell our story to prospects and the broader world (and then go actually execute on those). Ultimately, the goal is to develop a coherent story across our company from the very highest levels of strategy to the most minute details and put it into practice.

How: Creating a coherent end-to-end story will be crucial to scaling up as a business. As such, you should have the skills to kickoff and lead market discovery efforts, articulate your findings in a succinct and structured way to the team, develop evidence-based positioning, and put that strategy into practice at all levels of the organization. You should be comfortable working with modern marketing tools and methodologies and have a data-driven orientation.

đŸ€ What do I do if I’m interested?

Please email us at jobs@onramp.us.

We offer competitive pay and benefits like healthcare, dental, vision, 401k. But for this role specifically, more important to us and you (we hope) is a meaningful ownership stake in the business. If you’re looking to build something that lasts where the idea is to generate outsize returns for our stakeholders over the long term, you’ve come to the right place.

For now we’re all remote. That may change as the state of the world gets clearer, but we’re committed to finding the absolute right person for us wherever you may be. So while most of the team are currently in Boston, we're also located around the country. If this role sounds like exactly who you are / what you’re looking for, please reach out to us no matter where you live!
