About the Marketing COE 

 

The Marketing Center of Excellence seeks to capture value across Insight’s investment cycle: 

  • Investment Due Diligence:  Providing visibility into the performance and maturity of a prospect’s marketing team and infrastructure to identify untapped opportunities. This includes strategy, demand gen, and scalability. 
  • Portfolio support:  Ongoing marketing assistance for portfolio companies to help them scale growth, fix marketing issues, and optimize marketing performance. 
  • Exit preparation:  Helping portfolio companies prepare for exit via demand generation acceleration strategies, pipeline cleanup, and performance tuning. 

 

The Marketing Center of Excellence (COE) partners with Insight’s portfolio companies to drive impact and growth through right-sized marketing strategies and tactics.  Our engagement model covers foundations, strategies and tactics.  Our toolkit includes: 

  • Assessments:  We are engaged in due diligence, post-investment, and marketing org/functional diagnostics. 
  • Advisory & Knowledge Sharing:  We provide ongoing marketing advisory, develop thought leadership, conduct interactive workshops and host online and in-person events to facilitate knowledge sharing and peer learning for our portfolio companies.  
  • Reporting & Benchmarks:  We develop KPI dashboards, conduct benchmark surveys, and provide board pack templates. 
  • Partnerships & Resources: We provide access to our Onsite Experts Network, a curated list of experts and resources including thought leadership and other strategic partnerships. 


Responsibilities: 

 

  • Support due diligence of prospective portfolio companies, analyzing the strength and opportunities around an organization’s marketing function against best practice norms.  Perform quantitative analysis of provided data. 
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments of a portfolio company’s Marketing function and provide recommendations to optimize outcomes. This includes but isn’t limited to evaluating ICP and buyer personas definition, strength of messaging and content marketing, existing organic and paid Demand Gen programs and campaigns and completeness of sales enablement materials. 
  • Create Product Marketing related offerings to help portfolio companies accelerate growth. This can include best practice guides/templates/models, thought leadership blog posts, educational workshops, and creating a network of strategic partnerships and partners.  
  • Assist portfolio companies scale their Product Marketing teams and processes. Advise on hiring, scope of work, technology, cross functional collaboration and key workstreams. 
  • Deliver workshops geared to actionable outcomes for portfolio companies. 
  • Analyze marketing data provided by portfolio companies and create targeted, tactical and strategic recommendations. 
  • Collect and analyze portfolio marketing performance data on a regular basis to determine key benchmarks and KPIs to drive improved demand generation performance and drive best practices. 
  • Continuously learn and monitor industry best practices and trends in addition to creating owned thought leadership for the benefit of Insight portfolio companies and building Insight’s brand (e.g., blog posts, ebooks, webinars, etc.). 

 

Ideal Experience and Competencies 

 

Suggested Experience 

  • 3+ years of managing B2B SaaS product marketing programs with proven outcomes 
  • 3+ years of consulting, digital agency, internal strategy group, Business Intelligence or Marketing Operations experience 
  • MBA is a plus 
  • Skilled at leveraging Martech stack including CRM, MAP, and ABM platforms. 
  • Experience leveraging Business Intelligence tools to perform deeper data exploration, analysis, and reporting, including statistical packages, Excel, Tableau, etc.
